Warning: Mentions Suicide
Habari Ladies? Tuko Pamoja (We are together).
It was brought to my attention that a member of our group tried to attend Ladies’ Day last Friday at a Shooters’ World location and was not allowed to rent a firearm as a solo shooter.
The reason for this, as given by local ranges, is to prevent suicide attempts on the shooting line by folks needing both a gun and a place.
It is my understanding that people have also been known to bring their own guns to the range to do the same. However, I have been able to shoot alone at Shooters World in Goodyear with my own gun on Ladies Day, but we should keep in mind that these policies do exist, and range staff might elect to enforce them even where it is not clear.
What this member shared is not the experience that I want us to have at these ranges, and I thank her for bringing this to my attention.
If you will be shooting alone and do not have a gun, please visit with a friend or see our village range events for Ladies Day, so that I or another villager can be your “buddy.”
Warmly,
Nefertiti

The 4 Universal Rules of Firearms Safety
1. The gun is always loaded. If it’s not loaded, read this rule again.
2. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
3. Never point the gun at anything you’re not ready and willing to destroy.
4. Always know your target and what is beyond (For example, your target is a can on a stump, and behind this are cow grazing in a field).
