Q: Do I have to be 21 years of age to rent a gun?
A: Age requirements vary for each range. I’ve included age requirements (with links) to the facilities that I regularly feature on this platform below:
Scottsdale Gun Club [Deleted]
Caswells Shooting Range
For Caswells Shooting Range, the minimum age to use the range is 21 (or have someone 21 with you). —You can bring a child, but they must be capable of keeping the barrel of the gun pointed down range without pointing it to the ceiling.
Shooter’s World
For Shooter’s World, you must be 18 to shoot without adult supervision and 21 to purchase ammo or a handgun. You must be 18 to rent a rifle and 21 to rent a handgun without supervision. Children aged 6-13 are free with a paying adult.

Ben Avery Shooting Facility
The Ben Avery Shooting Facility (BASF) does not rent firearms, but children 5-17 yrs are free with a paying adult but count towards the 4-person per table maximum.
For their classes, the age restrictions will be in the description.
Finally, A Note About The Buddy System:
With any range, you might come across what they call The Buddy System. This policy means that no matter how old you are, if you come alone, can’t rent a gun.
I have just started “hosted” Ladies Day events, so if you can come during those times there should always be someone “of age” in the group.

The 4 Universal Rules of Firearms Safety:
1. The gun is always loaded! In the event that you are certain the gun is not loaded, read the first part of this rule again.
2. Never point the gun’s muzzle at anything you are not ready and willing to kill, maim, damage, or completely destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
4. Know your target and what is beyond your target (for example, behind your target is a wall, and behind that wall is a bedroom. Is someone/something behind the door? If you’re not sure, you don’t know what is beyond your target).
